About Mariginiup
Mariginiup is an outer northern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo about 28 kilometres from the Perth CBD. The suburb is situated on the Swan Coastal Plain at the interface of the Bassendean and Spearwood dune systems, and contains Lake Mariginiup and Lake Jandabup, groundwater-dependent wetlands on the Gnangara Mound. The name is derived from the Noongar language meaning "to pull out flag leaved flax," and the suburb was the origin point of the 2023 Wanneroo bushfire which burned 1,900 hectares.
