About Ferguson (WA)

Ferguson is a rural locality of the Shire of Dardanup in the South West region of Western Australia, in the Ferguson Valley to the east of Bunbury. The Ferguson River runs through the locality, named in 1844 by the surveyor Henry Mortlock Ommanney after John Ferguson, who owned a property along its banks. Settled from the 1840s, the valley grew as dairy and grazing country and is today known for its wineries and scenery.
