About Deanmill
Deanmill is a historic timber town in the South West region of Western Australia, about 5 kilometres west of Manjimup. Developed in 1913 to house workers for State Saw Mill No. 1, it was named after Alfred Dean, the mill's first long-term manager. The settlement produced karri timber for railway sleepers including the Trans-Australian Railway, and retains a cohesive townscape of early twentieth-century workers' cottages, the Deanmill Hall, and the former primary school.
