About Nirranda

Nirranda is a rural locality in the Shire of Moyne in south-western Victoria, on the Great Ocean Road about 246 km south-west of Melbourne and south-east of Warrnambool. The name is thought to come from an Aboriginal word meaning moon. Settled from the late 1860s on the western part of the Heytesbury forest, the district was famed for its oats and cheese in the 1880s and remains dairying country.
