About Glenthompson
Glenthompson is a small town on the Glenelg Highway between Hamilton and Ballarat in western Victoria, at the foothills of the Grampians. The district was settled for grazing in 1848, and the town grew at a mail-changing point on the Melbourne to Adelaide route from the 1860s. A railway station opened in the late 1870s, and the former station building now houses the local history centre.
