About Glenaire

Glenaire is a rural locality in the Warrnambool and South West region of Victoria, located about 172 kilometres from Melbourne in the Colac Otway Shire. Situated on the western side of the Aire River valley near where the Aire, Ford, and Calder Rivers converge, the Great Ocean Road skirts the Aire Valley and the Southern Ocean is only about 400 metres away at the locality's edge. The Gadubanud people occupied the rainforest plateau and rugged coastline along the Aire Valley for thousands of years, with evidence of middens along the Aire River estuary including turban shells, abalone, and elephant fish, and nearby Dinosaur Cove yielded fossils proving dinosaurs lived in the southern hemisphere about 110 million years ago.
