About Cowleys Creek
Cowleys Creek is a rural locality in the Warrnambool and South West region of Victoria, located about 183 kilometres from Melbourne in the Corangamite Shire. Situated on the Western Volcanic Plains, one of the world's largest basaltic plains, the landscape is flat to gently undulating with volcanic features including scoria cones, maars, and crater lakes formed by eruptions from about 4 million to 50,000 years ago. Named for a watercourse in the area, the district is dotted with hundreds of lakes and contributes about 25 percent of Victoria's milk production by volume.
