About Barramunga
Barramunga is a rural locality deep in the Otway Ranges in south-western Victoria, about 21 kilometres north of Apollo Bay, in the Colac Otway Shire. The area was first opened for timber selection in 1884 and developed around the timber industry, with a school opening in 1886 and a post office in 1887, while dairying also flourished for decades. Today the locality's sawmilling past is preserved in the heritage-listed ruins of Henry's Mill No. 1, once the largest sawmill in the eastern Otways, and the Henry's Tramway Tunnel, reputedly the most intact tramline tunnel in Victoria.
