About Wartook
Wartook is a small rural locality in the Northern Grampians Shire of western Victoria, situated on the quiet western flank of the Grampians National Park roughly 30 to 40 minutes drive from both Halls Gap and Horsham. The area centres on Lake Wartook, a reservoir built in the 1880s to supply water to the Wimmera River for irrigation and domestic use, and includes McKenzie Falls on the eastern edge. The Wartook Valley is known for its rich Aboriginal heritage, with rock art sites concealed in the mountains, and for spectacular sunsets and rugged mountain scenery on the lesser-visited western side of the Grampians.
