About Red Cliffs
Red Cliffs is a town in the Sunraysia region of Victoria, on the Calder Highway about 16 kilometres south of Mildura. It was established in 1920 as Australia's largest returned-soldier settlement, with the land cleared for irrigation by the giant tractor Big Lizzie. Named after the red cliffs on the nearby Murray River, the town became a centre for dried vine fruit growing.
