About Nurrabiel

Nurrabiel is a rural locality in the Wimmera region of western Victoria, about 287 kilometres from Melbourne. Named from a Djab Wurrung Aboriginal word, the area is notable for the 1961 discovery of thirty-nine australites, tektite glass bodies formed by meteorite impact, found on an exposed soil horizon near the old Nurrabiel State School site.
