About Murrabit West
Murrabit West is a rural locality in the Shire of Gannawarra in northern Victoria, about 313 kilometres north-west of Melbourne and to the west of the Murray River town of Murrabit. The locality grew from the original Murrabit settlement, whose post office, opened in 1880, was renamed Murrabit West in 1924 when a new post office opened near the railway station. Parts of the area were flooded in 2011 when temporary levees failed.
