About Mincha West
Mincha West is a locality in northern Victoria, 8 km north of Pyramid Hill. The name Mincha is thought to derive from an Aboriginal word for bush turkey. Farming settlement began in the 1870s, the railway arrived in 1884, and the area later became a dairying district after irrigation was introduced. The Mincha West Primary School, the last remaining school in the district, closed in 1991.
