About Liparoo
Liparoo is a rural locality in the North West region of Victoria, located about 408 kilometres from Melbourne and 62 kilometres from Ouyen in the Rural City of Swan Hill. Situated in flat Mallee country in north-western Victoria within the Sunraysia and Mallee region characterised by semi-arid mallee scrub and irrigated agricultural land near the Murray River, the area supports broadacre farming including cereal grains and sheep grazing. Liparoo Post Office opened on 16 February 1927 and closed in 1946, reflecting the early 20th-century settlement of this remote corner of the state.
