About Goschen

Goschen is a rural locality in the Rural City of Swan Hill of the North West region in Victoria, located about 20 kilometres south of Swan Hill and 310 kilometres from Melbourne. The landscape features semi-arid Mallee country with red sandy duplex soils, protected in part by the Goschen Bushland Reserve which conserves mallee eucalypt woodlands and shrublands on the traditional country of the Wemba Wamba people. The area supports dryland cropping of wheat, barley, and legumes alongside sheep grazing, and the Goschen Rare Earth and Mineral Sands Project approved in 2025 is projected to contribute 1.3 billion dollars to Victoria's economy over 20 years.
