About Chetwynd
Chetwynd is a remote rural locality in far south-western Victoria, approximately 39 kilometres north of Casterton and 319 kilometres west of Melbourne, within the West Wimmera Shire. The landscape is open pastoral land with large sheep and cattle stations, bounded by native bushland including proximity to the Ganoo Ganoo Bushland Reserve. The locality is named after Granville Chetwynd Stapylton, second-in-command on Major Mitchell's 1836 exploration of western Victoria.
