About Frankston South
Frankston South is a hilly, leafy suburb of Melbourne about 43 km south-east of the CBD, immediately south of Frankston. Much of the suburb lies above Sweetwater Creek, which runs down from Mount Eliza into the Frankston Reservoir, now the Frankston Nature Conservation Reserve, opened to the public in 2016. After the railway arrived in 1882 the area grew as a seaside resort for well-to-do Melburnians, and it hosted the first Australian Scout Jamboree in 1935, attended by the founder of Scouting, Robert Baden-Powell.
