About Seddon (Vic.)
Seddon is an inner suburb of Melbourne about 6 km west of the central business district, in the City of Maribyrnong, between Footscray and Yarraville. Originally called Belgravia and declared a suburb in 1906, it is named after Richard Seddon, later prime minister of New Zealand, who lived in the area before moving to Bendigo. The suburb is known for its streets of single-storey Victorian workers' cottages and Edwardian terraces, its central gardens where a tram line once ran, and a community market, with the railway station serving the Werribee and Williamstown lines.
