About Forest Hill (Vic.)
Forest Hill is a residential suburb of Melbourne, 18 km east of the central business district in the City of Whitehorse. Originally forested country on the former Nunawading district, it was an orchard and fruit-growing area until post-war subdivisions such as the Parkmore Estate transformed it into suburbia. The area's best-known landmark is the Forest Hill Chase shopping centre on Canterbury Road, first announced in 1957.
