About Broadmeadows (Vic.)
Broadmeadows is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, 15 kilometres north of the central business district and the council seat of the City of Hume, colloquially known as Broady. It grew rapidly in the post-war decades with large Housing Commission estates and the opening of the Ford Australia assembly plant in 1959, long one of the region's biggest manufacturing employers, until Ford ended Australian car production in 2016.
