About Ivanhoe East

Ivanhoe East is a suburb of Melbourne about 10 km north-east of the central business district, in the City of Banyule, with the Yarra River and its parklands forming the eastern boundary. The suburb has a strong heritage character, with the Beauview Estate protected as a garden-suburb heritage precinct and grand 19th-century houses such as Charterisville, built around 1840, which later became a colony of Heidelberg School artists. Yarra Flats Park, opened in 1984 on land once used for dairy farms, provides riverside parkland and wetlands along the Main Yarra Trail.
