About Heathcote Junction
Heathcote Junction is a town in the Shire of Mitchell in central Victoria, 53 kilometres north of Melbourne and 3 kilometres from nearby Wandong. It grew up around a railway junction on the main north-eastern line where a branch line to Kilmore and Heathcote began; opened as a station in 1890 as Kilmore Junction, it was renamed Heathcote Junction in 1922 and remains in use on the Seymour line. The town was affected by the Black Saturday bushfires of 2009.
