About Venus Bay (Vic.)
Venus Bay is a township on a narrow peninsula on the east coast of Victoria, in South Gippsland Shire, with five surf beaches facing the bay and Anderson's Inlet on the eastern shore. The bay was named by the French expedition under Nicolas Baudin, after George Bass's trading ship the Venus. Settled from 1851, the town was subdivided in 1959 and has become a popular holiday destination.
