About Seaton (Vic.)

Seaton is a locality in the Gippsland region of Victoria, about 204 kilometres east of Melbourne in the Shire of Wellington, north-west of Heyfield. It began as a stopping place on the track to the Jordan and Woods Point goldfields, known as Bald Hills, and was settled in the 1860s; its post office, opened in 1862 as Bald Hills, was renamed Seaton in 1879 and closed in 1967. A school operated from 1866 until 1944, and the district has a public hall and CFA station.
