About Heyfield

Heyfield is a town in the Shire of Wellington in Victoria, on the Thomson River about 206 kilometres east of Melbourne, at the gateway to the Victorian High Country. It grew as a stopping point for diggers heading to the Gippsland goldfields, and is today a centre for agriculture and timber production, with the largest hardwood timber mill in the Southern Hemisphere located there. The district's irrigation water comes from Lake Glenmaggie.
