About Poowong East
Poowong East is a small rural locality in the South Gippsland Shire, situated in the western Strzelecki Ranges approximately 93 kilometres south-east of Melbourne. The landscape features rolling hills, lush farmland and creek-lined gullies characteristic of South Gippsland's productive dairy country. The broader Poowong district has a long dairying heritage, including the former Poowong Butter Factory opened in 1892.
