About Lindenow South
Lindenow South is a rural locality in East Gippsland, Victoria, situated on the Mitchell River floodplain about 17 kilometres west of Bairnsdale. The settlement grew around a railway station established when the line was extended to Bairnsdale in 1888, and a small township developed nearby with sawmills and a flax mill. Today the area supports market gardening and pastoral farming on the fertile river flats, with vegetable growing replacing earlier dairy operations.
