About Delburn

Delburn is a rural locality in the Strzelecki Ranges of South Gippsland, Victoria, located about 125 kilometres from Melbourne. The area was cleared for farming in the 1880s and 1890s from dense mountain ash forest, a period known as The Heartbreak Hills due to settlers struggling on steep terrain, before large-scale reforestation began in the 1930s. Delburn is now home to Victoria's first publicly owned, utility-scale wind farm — a 33-turbine, 205-megawatt project planned for completion in 2028, set within plantation forestry on the ridge lines of the Strzelecki Ranges.
