About Wangaratta South

Wangaratta South is a rural locality on the southern fringe of Wangaratta in north-east Victoria, situated along the Ovens Valley. The traditional custodians of the area were the Bangerang people, and following European settlement the rich fertile soil enabled diverse agriculture including citrus, vineyards, tobacco and dairying. The first commercial citrus crop in Victoria was grown in the area in 1902, and today the locality retains its agricultural character with views across the Ovens and King Valleys.
