About Markwood
Markwood is a rural locality in the Rural City of Wangaratta in north-east Victoria, set in the foothills of the King Valley on the traditional lands of the Pangerang and Minjambuta peoples. Its gently undulating farmland supports orchards, vineyards and mixed farming along the Ovens River, and the fertile district is part of the broader food and wine region around Wangaratta. Between Everton and Markwood stands the Ovens River Flour Mill, built around 1867 and the only surviving standing building from a small 19th-century water-powered flour mill in Victoria.
