About Longwood (Vic.)
Longwood is a town in the Shire of Strathbogie in northern Victoria, about 15 km south-west of Euroa. It began as a staging post for horse-drawn coaches on the old Sydney–Melbourne road, and moved about 4 km east when the railway station opened in 1881. The town's football club has operated since 1888, and the district was marked by a devastating bushfire in 1965 in which seven people died.
