About Lake Eildon
Lake Eildon is a locality in the Alpine region of Victoria, in the Shire of Mansfield, surrounding the reservoir of the same name on the Goulburn River, between the towns of Mansfield and Eildon. The lake was created by the Eildon Dam, built as the Sugarloaf Reservoir between 1915 and 1929 and enlarged and renamed in the 1950s, and is the largest irrigation storage in Victoria. Much of its shoreline is protected within Lake Eildon National Park, making it a popular destination for boating and fishing.
