About Meredith

Meredith is a town in the Golden Plains Shire of Victoria, on the Midland Highway between Ballarat and Geelong. It was one of the earliest settlements along the route linking the port of Geelong to the Ballarat goldfields and served the nearby Steiglitz diggings, and its nineteenth-century buildings along Staughton Street survive in a heritage precinct. Meredith is best known for the Meredith Music Festival, an independent three-day event held every December since 1991 at the natural amphitheatre on farmland near the town.
