About Elaine
Elaine is a small town in the Golden Plains Shire of Victoria, situated on the Midland Highway between Ballarat and Geelong. Settled from the 1850s following the discovery of gold at nearby Steiglitz, the township grew after the Geelong-Ballarat railway line opened in 1862. Today Elaine is a quiet rural community with a historic pub, farmland and a tennis club revived by local volunteers in 2010.
