About Pyramid Hill
Pyramid Hill is a town in the Shire of Loddon in northern Victoria, between Bendigo and Kerang, named for a granite rise that explorer Thomas Mitchell called Pyramid Hill in 1836 for its resemblance, in his words, to the monuments of Egypt. A settlement grew at the base of the hill in the 1870s, but when the railway arrived in 1884 the town shifted to its present site about 3 km to the west. Today it serves the surrounding farming district and offers walking trails, historic Art Deco buildings and a lookout to the summit of the hill.
