About Barnadown
Barnadown is a rural locality in north central Victoria, in the City of Greater Bendigo on the Campaspe River, about 27 kilometres north-east of Bendigo. Named after a village in County Kilkenny, Ireland, it grew from Barnadown Run, established in 1841. A punt crossing the river and the Clare Inn made the settlement a staging point for diggers travelling to the goldfields and for drovers moving stock between New South Wales and Victoria, until a bridge was built in 1868. The locality now focuses on agriculture.
