About Wilmot
Wilmot is a village and rural community in the Kentish local government area of north-west Tasmania, about 25 km south of Ulverstone. It was proclaimed a town in 1903 and named after Sir John Eardley-Wilmot, Lieutenant-Governor of Van Diemen's Land from 1843 to 1846. Bounded by Lake Barrington to the east and the Wilmot River to the west, the village is a base for visitors to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park and the nearby Forth Falls.
