About Paloona
Paloona is a rural locality in north-west Tasmania, in the local government areas of Devonport and Kentish, about 16 kilometres south-west of Devonport. It is the site of the Paloona Dam across the Forth River, completed in 1971, and the adjacent Paloona Power Station, a run-of-the-river hydroelectric plant commissioned in 1972. The power station is the final station in the Mersey-Forth hydro scheme before the river flows out to Bass Strait.
