About Tunnack
Tunnack is a rural locality in the Southern Midlands of Tasmania, about 25 kilometres south-east of Oatlands. The name is thought to come from an Aboriginal word for 'cold'. Settlement followed the Waste Land Act of 1863, when the district was still heavily timbered and known as the Limerick area. The locality lies near Mount Ponsonby and was gazetted in 1974.
