About Lake Leake

Lake Leake (palawa kani: kunawi) is the name of both a man-made reservoir and a small township in the eastern midlands of Tasmania, about 34 kilometres east of Campbell Town. The reservoir was created in the 1880s to supply Campbell Town with water, with a dam completed in 1884, and was named after Charles Henry Leake, a member of the Tasmanian Legislative Council. The locality is split between the Northern Midlands and Glamorgan-Spring Bay councils.
