About Dover

Dover is a town in south-eastern Tasmania, on the western shore of Port Esperance, and the southernmost town of its size in Australia. The settlement grew after the closure of the Port Esperance convict probation station in the 1840s, and developed as a timber port before becoming a centre for fishing, with abalone, crayfish and Atlantic salmon farming the mainstays of the local economy.
