About Antill Ponds
Antill Ponds is a rural locality in the Southern Midlands of Tasmania, about 12 kilometres north of the town of Oatlands. The name was given by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1811 in honour of Captain Henry Colden Antill, his aide-de-camp, and the locality was gazetted in 1974. It is a sparsely settled farming area of the Midlands, a region of grain and livestock country along the route between Hobart and Launceston.
