About Cressy (Tas.)

Cressy is a small town on the Macquarie River in Tasmania, about 35 kilometres south-west of Launceston. It came into existence in the 1850s to service the surrounding wheat farms and is today the centre of an irrigated cropping district supplied by the Cressy-Longford Irrigation Scheme. Known as the trout capital of Tasmania, it is a base for fly fishing the rivers of the Western Tiers.
