About Sherlock (SA)
Sherlock is a small farming locality on the Mallee Highway in South Australia's Murray Mallee region, about 118 kilometres southeast of Adelaide within the Coorong District Council. The landscape is flat mallee scrubland and farmland, with wheat and barley cropping and sheep grazing as the primary industries. The town grew around the Pinnaroo railway line in the early 1900s, and its Baptist church, opened in 1911, was the first stone building erected along the line.
