About Geranium
Geranium is a town and locality in the Murray Mallee region of South Australia, near the Mallee Highway in the Southern Mallee District Council, about 230 km east of Adelaide. It was named for the wild geraniums (Pelargonium australe) that once grew abundantly across the plains. Proclaimed in 1910 as a station town on the Pinnaroo railway line, the settlement gained a stone school in 1929 and an area school in 1965, and today serves the surrounding grain and sheep farms.
