About Williamstown (SA)
Williamstown is a village in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, located 39 kilometres north-east of Adelaide and 15 kilometres south-east of Gawler in the Barossa Council area. Originally known as Victoria Creek, the township was laid out in 1858 by Lewis Johnston and named for his son. Known as the southern gateway to the Barossa Valley, many residents work in the region's wine and viticulture industry. Key attractions include the South Para Reservoir, the Barossa Reservoir's Whispering Wall acoustic feature, the Barossa Goldfields from the 1868 gold rush, and Hale and Para Wirra Conservation Parks. One of the oldest public house hotels in South Australia dates from 1841.
