About Warooka
Warooka is a small town on the Yorke Peninsula known as the Gateway to the bottom end, about 228 kilometres west of Adelaide. Established in 1876 with significant Irish settlement, the town is a gateway stop for Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park and site of Australia's first recorded earthquake deaths from a magnitude 6.0 event in 1902. Flaherty's Beach nearby offers sheltered waters for swimming and windsurfing, and the annual Sandbar Golf Classic is played on the sand at low tide.
