About Bolivar
Bolivar is an outer northern suburb of Adelaide, about 17 kilometres from the central business district in the City of Salisbury. Named after the sailing ship Bolivar of 1850 via the General Bolivar Hotel, the suburb is best known for the Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant, the largest in South Australia, which processes 60 per cent of metropolitan Adelaide's sewage. The site was also the location of some of Australia's earliest powered flights in March 1910.
