About Woodforde
Woodforde is a suburb of Adelaide in the Adelaide Hills Council, about ten kilometres east of the city centre. The area was subdivided in 1850 as the Village of Woodforde, from a 134-acre estate owned by John Hallett, and is popularly believed to have been named for Dr John Woodforde, who accompanied Colonel Light on the survey ship Rapid in 1836. The suburb is home to Rostrevor College, a Catholic boys' school, and the Lewis Yarlupurka O'Brien Reserve, a recreation park named for the oldest living Kaurna elder.
