About Macclesfield (SA)
Macclesfield is a small town on the upper reaches of the River Angas in the Adelaide Hills region of South Australia, about 14 km south of Mount Barker. It was established in 1840 as a special survey purchased by the Davenport family, who named it after the Earl of Macclesfield. Crystal Lake Park, a community arts and recreation park on the Hills Sculpture Trail, occupies the site of the town's historic swimming pool.
